Moodle, build and manage online learning systems
A. Title / Name of Activity: Moodle, building an online learning system
B. Introduction
Peace be upon you, and Allah mercy and blessings. The server is made with various purposes and objectives, one of which is to build an online learning system. Online learning is very well implemented now, because today's students prefer to be online than to read a book. This can increase the interest in reading students homeland. One of the media that can be used is by "Moodle." What is Moodle?
1. Definition:
Moodle (Modular Object-Oriented Dynamic Learning Environment) is a software package produced for internet-based learning activities and websites that use the principle of social constructionist pedagogy. Moodle is one of the applications of the concepts and mechanisms of teaching and learning that utilizes information techniques, which are known as electronic learning concepts or e-learning. Moodle can be used freely as an open source product under the GNU license. Moodle can be installed on any computer and operating system that can run PHP and support SQL databases.
Electronic learning systems or e-learning can be defined as a form of information technology that is applied in the field of education in the form of websites that can be accessed anywhere. E-learning is the basis and logical consequence of the development of information and communication technology.
With e-learning, students do not need to sit sweetly in the classroom to listen to every remark from a teacher directly. E-learning can also shorten the target schedule of learning time, and of course save costs that must be incurred by a study program or educational program.
2. Background:
Students today prefer to read on the internet rather than ordinary books.
3. Purpose and Objectives;
Know what Moodle is and apply it in the learning system
4. Expected results;
Being able to configure Moodle correctly so that we can implement an online learning system in an effort to increase the reading interest of participants.
C. Tools and Materials:
1. Server computer
2. Laptops
3. Internet access
4. Download the Moodle file here
D. Duration of implementation:
implementation period; 3 hours
E. Stages of Implementation:
1. We enter the terminal then we connect to our server by typing the command: ssh <space> user @ IPServer then enter the password
2. After that we enter as SuperUser with the government: su
3. Then move the downloaded moodle file to dirroti / var / www / html with the command: cp <space> filename <space> / var / www / html /
4. then we extract the moodle file with the command: unzip <space> filename
5. Then after that give access rights with orders
chown -R www-data: www-data <namefile>
chmod -R 755 <filename>
6. Then we create a directory for moodle data, keep in mind when creating a moodledata directory it should not be in the / var / www / html folder but in another folder, for example in / var / www. therefore we move to / var / www / first with the command: cd / var / www after that we create a directory by: mkdir <space> moodledata then give the directory permissions that we make with the command: chmod 777 moodledata /
7. After that we create a database in phpmyadmin by clicking New> Create Database> enter the database name> Create.
8. then we open our moodle through a browser with the command: IPServer / moodle after that the display will appear as shown below, select Language then Next.
9. Next choose the database storage type> MariaDB then Next
10. then fill in the database host, database name enter the database name that we created in phpmyadmin, after that enter the phpmyadmin user with root, for the database password using the phpmyadmin password then click Next
11. After that, click Continue
12. When the problem appears as shown below, click one of the warnings.
13. The display will appear as shown below, from the picture it instructs us to configure my.cnf.
14. After that we move to the mysql directory with the command: cd / etc / mysql> enter
15. After that type the nano my.cnf command
16. When you have entered the configuration page, enter the script that was in the browser then save it (ctrl + x) then y> enter.
17. Restart mysql with the command: mysql service restart
18. After that we open the browser again and the results are different.
19. Wait for the process a few minutes.
20. Enter your data correctly, after it is completely complete then click continue.
21. Enter the full name of the site and the short name for the site then continue
22. Moodle has been successfully installed
F. The results obtained:
Can install Moodle correctly.
G. Problem Findings:
When installing moodle in the database driver selection section does not choose the type of MariaDB so it cannot continue the installation process.
H. Conclusion:
The conclusion from this experiment is that Moodle is very useful for today's online learning systems.
